Lucy is here!

Lucy has arrived as most of you know by now!  She surprised on Saturday, October 23rd starting early in the morning (12:30 a.m.) with contractions (who knew that is what those horrible pains were!).  However, I was not complaining because after our weekly visit to the doctor on the Wednesday before we were looking at possible induction the upcoming Wednesday.  So, off to the hospital Richard and I went about 5:45 a.m., after I took my shower.  After we arrived, they hooked us up to the monitors and they begin monitoring my contractions and such.  I wasn't progressing like they wanted me to so, Richard and I took to the hallways and staircases, trying to encourage Miss Lucy to come on out!  Finally about 9:20 that morning, we were making the decision to leave the hospital and just go eat breakfast in hopes that a good breakfast would help out before we made the trek back to Cullman.  When all of a sudden, a powerful contraction put us on the map and Dr. Heaton informed us we would be going no where and that Miss Lucy would be here by 3:00 p.m. that same day.  So, we were transferred to a room, I received my epidural (oh yeah!), and the family begin arriving.  At 2:30 p.m., I begin pushing and watching the Auburn/ LSU game and at 3:00 p.m. Lucy arrived and Auburn scored their first touchdown of the game.  So, Lucy must want to be an Auburn fan or at least my side of the family and friends are convinced that those are here dreams!  She arrived weighing in at 7 lbs 11 ozs and was around 22 inches long!

Wow!  Who knew you could fall in love so quickly, I find myself in awe of such a wonderful blessing and miracle from God.  She is beautiful and perfect and we are so in love with her.  Rachael and Mitchell have been an enormous help and they can't wait until she is actually able to play!  I am enjoying staying home (until after Christmas) and hanging out with Miss Lucy.  We try to get out and about a little each day, to help keep this momma sane!  She is sleeping decently (or at least the past two nights she has...) in her crib!  She went to her two week doctor's visit yesterday and weighed in at an amazing 8 lbs 12 ozs, so she is definitely eating and growing!  Again, we are so blessed and we thank you all for your prayers and support!

22 days and counting!

Don't worry, the chair is going to be recovered in solid black fabric!

Wow!  These last 37.5 weeks have flown by and now we are just 22 days (give or take, depending on Lucy) away from meeting our little girl!  It has been a fun pregnancy and I have been blessed to have felt great the entire time.  Several of you that live out of town have asked me to post pictures of her nursery when we finished it.  Well, it isn't COMPLETE; but it is close enough for you to see how far we have come.  Lucy's daddy has worked really hard at making this complete transformation into the room her momma has visualized for the last several months.  I know it is BRIGHT and a little crazy, but those of you that know me... well, this is what I love!
Rachael, Lucy's big sister, is so excited about her arrival and has been checking EVERYTHING out to make sure she knows how to work it and that she knows the use for each little thing (so sweet!).  Mitchell, Lucy's big brother, has been a big help to daddy in holding flashlights, getting tools, and whatever else he has been asked to do.  A HUGE thanks to a lot of you for helping us prepare for Lucy's arrival with all of your gifts and prayers!  We are one blessed family and Lucy is one blessed little girl already!

Send in the Carpet!

Entrance into the room
Entrance into the closet!
This is the room where the wall was removed.

Well, we are about 6.5 weeks from Lucy's arrival, unless she decides to arrive early!  Daddy has been working really hard to finish things up over the past two weeks.  We are ready for carpet and we are actually waiting on them to arrive this morning (they are running late!).  Our bed should hopefully be here by this weekend and our bedding is ready to go as soon as we get the furniture.  It is FINALLY all starting to come together!  Hopefully my next post will be when everything is pretty much in its place!

Making Progress

Well, it is now the end of summer and time for us to start school!  We have made some progress since June, but we still have a ways to go.  All of the carpet, base boards, and door frames have been ripped out.  We have painted the walls, three times- prego got the wrong color the first time!  Crown molding and base boards are being painted and being readied for installation.
However, I know some of you are stroking wondering if Lucy will have a place to sleep.  Don't worry, her furniture was thankfully ordered the first of June, but will not be arriving until end of August!  Her bedding is currently being made and will be ready within the next few weeks.
Mitchell and Rachael have been a huge help!  They have gone behind and pulled up old staples, nails, etc.  Rachael even vacuumed up all of the sheet rock dust from the repairs in the closet!  You can see in the picture (bottom picture on the right), the closet has come a LONG way and Daddy has done most of it all himself (thanks to our good friend Trey for his help with the sheet rocking!).
It has been a great summer, but a busy and FAST one!  It is hard to believe that Lucy will be with us in about 11 weeks!  We have finally registered and planned some fun showers, thanks to some incredible friends!  This has been a fun journey and we can't wait for the arrival of Lucy.  Thank you for all of your continued prayers!

Let the demolition begin!

The preparation of Lucy's nursery has begun!  Richard started the demolition of the closet/.25 (had a sink only) bath tonight, we are going to need as much closet space as possible!  As a matter of fact, she already has a few outfits that need to be hung up.  I think Richard enjoyed the demolition, who wouldn't enjoy slinging tools into a wall!

Summer has begun!

School is out and summer has finally begun at the Collins' house!  We are so excited to be out of school because it means we can really start working on Lucy's room.  Don't worry, we have already started her wardrobe, those cute little clothes are just too hard to pass up!  I hope to publish some of our sonogram pictures soon, I will be 19 weeks tomorrow.  Have a great Memorial Day weekend with your families and enjoy the break.
