Lucy is here!

Lucy has arrived as most of you know by now!  She surprised on Saturday, October 23rd starting early in the morning (12:30 a.m.) with contractions (who knew that is what those horrible pains were!).  However, I was not complaining because after our weekly visit to the doctor on the Wednesday before we were looking at possible induction the upcoming Wednesday.  So, off to the hospital Richard and I went about 5:45 a.m., after I took my shower.  After we arrived, they hooked us up to the monitors and they begin monitoring my contractions and such.  I wasn't progressing like they wanted me to so, Richard and I took to the hallways and staircases, trying to encourage Miss Lucy to come on out!  Finally about 9:20 that morning, we were making the decision to leave the hospital and just go eat breakfast in hopes that a good breakfast would help out before we made the trek back to Cullman.  When all of a sudden, a powerful contraction put us on the map and Dr. Heaton informed us we would be going no where and that Miss Lucy would be here by 3:00 p.m. that same day.  So, we were transferred to a room, I received my epidural (oh yeah!), and the family begin arriving.  At 2:30 p.m., I begin pushing and watching the Auburn/ LSU game and at 3:00 p.m. Lucy arrived and Auburn scored their first touchdown of the game.  So, Lucy must want to be an Auburn fan or at least my side of the family and friends are convinced that those are here dreams!  She arrived weighing in at 7 lbs 11 ozs and was around 22 inches long!

Wow!  Who knew you could fall in love so quickly, I find myself in awe of such a wonderful blessing and miracle from God.  She is beautiful and perfect and we are so in love with her.  Rachael and Mitchell have been an enormous help and they can't wait until she is actually able to play!  I am enjoying staying home (until after Christmas) and hanging out with Miss Lucy.  We try to get out and about a little each day, to help keep this momma sane!  She is sleeping decently (or at least the past two nights she has...) in her crib!  She went to her two week doctor's visit yesterday and weighed in at an amazing 8 lbs 12 ozs, so she is definitely eating and growing!  Again, we are so blessed and we thank you all for your prayers and support!
